The Doctor of Juridical Science in Law (SJD) program is the most advanced law degree that is available at law schools today. The degree is equivalent to the Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD). It is designed for students who want to engage in research and scholarly work and want to contribute to the legal community in an outstanding way. Students who possess a Master of Laws (LLM) degree or a Master of Legal Studies (MLS) degree are eligible to enroll. Doctoral Candidates are required to work with their faculty advisors while they are pursuing their doctoral programs. Students are required to conduct research and investigate broad original ideas from abstract or vacant perspectives to a specific scope of reality. The program is designed to be completed in 2 ½ - 3 years (accelerated option). A dissertation is required.
